Rodríguez-Hidalgo, Antonio (Arqueozoologia i Tafonomia)

Degree in History (BA 2006, Universidad de Extremadura), Master Erasmus Mundus in Quaternary Archeology (MA 2008) and PhD on Prehistory with international mention (2010-2015, Universitat Rovira i Virgili). My PhD thesis (Subsistence dynamics during the Middle Pleistocene in the Sierra de Atapuerca: The archaeological assemblages of TD10.1 and TD10.2) was approved with High Honors and awarded with two international prizes, the Tübingen Research Prize in Early Prehistory and Quaternary Ecology (2016) and the Student Poster Prize of the European Society for the Study of Human Evolution (2015).

Specialist in Paleolithic archeology, I developed my doctoral training in collaboration with several research teams, the most prominent among them is the Atapuerca Research Team. I collaborate permanently with the Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES). I participate in several competitive and non-competitive R + D projects at the Rovira i Virgili University, IPHES and University of Barcelona, leading the fieldwork of archeo-paleontological sites such as Cova del Toll (Ba), Cueva de Santa Ana (Cc), Cueva de Maltravieso (Cc) and Xaragalls Cave (Ta).

The keywords that can define my research are: Paleolithic Archeology, Zooarcheology, Taphonomy and Subsistence. My research focuses on Human Behavior in the past, with special interest on the evolution of the strategies, tactics and techniques developed for the subsistence inferred from the faunal record. The fossil accumulation formation processes are very important part of my research too. Lower Paleolithic is my main focus, but I developed works about other periods of Prehistory as well as theoretical and methodological researches about bone modifications, with special emphasis on experimental taphonomy.
